Celebrate Women’s History Month!

It’s Women’s History Month and everyone from teachers to corporations to TikTok is celebrating women!

Why do we dedicate a month honoring women’s history? Because for centuries, women were overlooked when historical stories were told or written down. The contributions of women in all spheres of life—science, exploration, literature, discoveries, culture—were ignored and often forgotten.

Women’s History Month is an attempt to bring that history to light so future generations will know the names of the people who helped create the society we have today.

Here at Nomad Press, we take our role as education stewards very seriously, and that includes introducing kids to women who have made great strides in science and engineering. Mary Jackson, Sally Ride, Mae Jemison, Ellen Swallow Richards, Mignon Talbot, Ada Lovelace, and so many others populate our books. We try to bring the stories of how these women followed their passions, often in the face of discrimination and other challenges, and carved out a space for themselves in their field.

It’s thrilling to learn more and more about the women who have contributed to our deeper understanding of the world! And not just during the month of March—women’s history is for every day!
